Our Commitment
Ethics and Sustainability
Acanto was born in the beautiful region of Salento. Its colors, scents, shapes, and art inspire each collection, starting with the brand's name. The company's attachment to its land and its desire to protect it leads it to pay particular attention to environmental issues.
Protecting the environment and its people are among Acanto's core values.
What do we do to uphold our principles?
All our footwear is created exclusively with solar energy.
Our shoe factory generates its own electricity thanks to its photovoltaic system. Excess energy is released into the national grid so everyone can access clean energy sources.
Since its creation, 6.5 tons of CO2 have been saved.
The gardens at our HQ are filled with local flowers and plants that help reduce CO2 emissions and brighten our employees' lunch breaks with their colors, especially on warm spring days, when everyone can enjoy their lunch outdoors on the lawn.
We select the best materials
Aware that the fashion industry is the second most polluting on our planet, we are also personally committed to reducing the environmental impact of the materials used to make our products.
Water-based rather than chemical-based glues, naturally tanned leathers, and waste-reducing processes are the foundation of our business.
Our laboratories also work constantly to adopt eco-sustainable materials such as yarns derived from natural fibers, soles made from recyclable materials, and leathers from recycled fibers.
Our boxes are made from recycled cardboard and colored with water-based dyes. The travel bag is made from natural cotton fibers, a product of the BCI (Better Cotton Initiative), and manufactured according to an ethical and sustainable supply chain, as established by the GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standards) principles.
We protect Made in Italy
The creators of Acanto are founding members of a school, the Polytechnic of Made in Italy , specializing in training technical and managerial figures for the fashion industry. This represents a key development for the Salento region, which has now become Europe's leading hub for the production of sneakers in the luxury sector and a leading market for apparel in the same segment.
Our shoe factory has also created an in-house training academy where the artisans who make our shoes receive ongoing training and refresher courses.
